Air-operated diaphragm pumps deliver a pulsating flow that can lead to increased pressure drop and vibrations in the piping system. In processes where pulsations in the liquid flow need to be minimized, a Verderair pulsation dampener should be used. When correctly applied/sized, the pulsation dampener can reduce pulsations by up to 95%.
Verderair pulsation dampeners are made in UHMW polyethylene, 100% virgin PTFE, or both materials in a conductive version if used in an ATEX environment. They utilize a PTFE or EPDM diaphragm that separates the fluid from the air supply.
Verderair pulsation dampeners are available with a bottom inlet for installation in a tee fitting in the pipeline or with side ports for direct installation in the pipeline.
Verderair pulsation dampeners are active dampeners, meaning that the dampener always adjusts to the pump's operating pressure. The dampener operates on a double-acting principle: first, the air in the pulsation dampener is compressed by the fluid. At the end of the pump stroke, the compressed air pushes the diaphragm down, forcing the fluid out of the pulsation dampener.
