Multichopper - Efficient perforated disc cutter
The Multichopper is highly effective for shredding long fibers and particles that can cause issues in the process. Problems with fibers wrapping around shafts and clogging heat exchangers, etc. are effectively eliminated with the Multichopper. The machine is available in 3 sizes in either cast iron or stainless steel.
Operation
The medium is passed through the perforated disc where rotating knives shred the fibers to the desired size. The degree of shredding can be varied by installing perforated discs with different hole sizes and by adjusting the knife rotation speed. The low flow velocity ensures that the fibers undergo multiple cuts as they pass through the perforated plate.
Technical structure and benefits
- Large front cover for quick service- The cover for the internals of the Multichopper provides quick access to all wet parts.
- Knife holder- Multi-arm holders with reversible knives are available as a rotating cutting unit.
- Perforated disc- Various perforated discs are on a stationary cutting unit. The perforated discs are held in place with a pair of screws and can be rotated for use on both sides.
- Stone trap- The waste collector is attached beneath the flow-through stream in the Multichopper plus. The blades' centrifugal movement and the fluid's diagonal flow transport the unchopped hard parts into the waste collector. The Multichopper pure design does not have a waste collector.
- Cutter housing- The housing is manufactured as one piece.
- Drive- The drive is directly connected to provide a more compact unit. Three versions of drive models are available.
Reversible flow direction
A guide vane in the connections directs the medium to the front of the knife. By switching the connections, the flow direction can be changed in a few minutes.
Automatic knife adjustment (MCA) ensures optimal operation
The knife is adjusted automatically during operation. A hydraulic unit (MCA) pulls the rotating knife towards the perforated disc, ensuring that the knife is always optimally adjusted. The hydraulic system is designed so that the knives cannot lift off the perforated disc.
Low pressure on the knives ensures stable operation and long knife and perforated disc lifetime
The hydraulic MCA unit is mounted on the outside of the machine for easy and quick service. The MCA unit pulls the knives towards the perforated disc. A built-in check valve ensures that the knives cannot lift off the perforated disc. This makes it possible to reduce the pressure on the knives and achieve a significantly longer lifetime compared to conventional systems.
Particle size reduction is adapted to each task
Particle size reduction can be adjusted by changing the speed and installing perforated discs in different diameters & patterns.
