Lobe pumps for sewage treatment plants

Holstebro Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (HCR) handles all wastewater sludge in Holstebro Municipality. Wastewater from households and companies is first directed to one of the municipality's 6 smaller wastewater treatment plants, after which the sludge with 2% dry matter is transported to HCR. Here, the dry matter is further dewatered to approx. 30%. The water is directed back to the wastewater treatment plant and the dry matter is used to fertilize agricultural land.

Know-how and quality equipment

At a trade fair, Tommy Fjord Petersen, HCR, came into contact with Lobe. This meeting was the start of a close and long-term collaboration. HCR was challenged by a lack of space in their engine room and was looking for a new solution. With extensive experience in pump solutions for wastewater treatment plants, Lobe was able to quickly analyze the challenges of the wastewater treatment plant.

The recommendation fell on lobe rotor pumps and macerators from Börger. The lobe rotor pumps are extremely gentle, and this improves the process for the dewaterer. In addition, they are also very service-friendly = short downtime, space-saving and can withstand dry running. “The pumps have been running for a year, and we haven’t touched them yet – they just run 24/7,” says Tommy Fjord Petersen. The pumps and macerators from Börger are also characterized by very long service intervals.

In addition, the dimensioning of the pumps took into account that there should be enough motor power to be able to run the pumps up to speed. The purpose of this is to remove air or blockages in the pipe system so that the system does not stop. This part is now automated so that it happens at fixed intervals.

Knowledge sharing ensures operations

After delivery, the service team from Lobe took a trip to Holstebro, where the employees at the treatment plant received training in servicing both pumps and macerators. Everyone became comfortable with the new equipment. “The plant has to run continuously, so it is important that everyone can keep the machines running,” says Tommy Fjord Petersen.

At Lobe, we don’t just sell components and solutions. We draw on our experience and ensure that the solutions are tailored and dimensioned to the customer’s needs. We follow the project from start to finish, thus ensuring the customer’s process and daily operations.

“Lobe is always quick to respond when we ask for help,” concludes Tommy Fjord Petersen.
