Pumps to Flügger for decades

Flügger needed a new pumping system to handle its own wastewater, so it contacted LOBE for advice on the project. LOBE analysed the project and supplied Flügger with eccentric screw pumps from the Italian supplier, SYDEX PUMP.

This marked the start of a long and valuable partnership between LOBE and Flügger in Kolding.

Hygienic pumps replace chemicals

Flügger is an environmentally friendly, Nordic Swan-labelled paint manufacturer that is constantly working to improve the environmental and health profile of its products. One of the key objectives here is to reduce the amount of chemicals in the paint. Chemicals are added, amongst other things, to increase shelf life, so a new and more environmentally sound solution was needed.

LOBE supplied a system comprising diaphragm pumps from VerderAir and screw pumps from Verder Liquids for the hygienic processes. For the chemical section, the choice fell on magnetically coupled pumps from the German company Scherzinger, whereby the paint is transported through hygienic pumps, ensuring a bacteria-free process.

The hygienic pumps also have the advantage that they can be drained completely empty – this reduces waste and the need for cleaning.

Local supplier with parts in stock

Flügger’s production must run continuously, as downtime costs money. LOBE keeps most wear and spare parts for their pumps in stock and is based in Vamdrup, just 15 minutes from Kolding. “It’s a great reassurance for us to know that there are rotors in stock out in Vamdrup that we can simply collect,” says Martin Hald, Maintenance Supervisor at Flügger. “The people we speak to at LOBE are always very helpful. They understand that this is a factory that has to keep running,” adds John Puggaard of Flügger.
